This is a work around for anyone experiencing problems with 3d intersecting lines visible in Final Cut Pro 7 and Motion 4.
Final Cut Studio 2 users are not affected by this problem.
Render Quality in Final Cut Pro 7
Some issues have arisen when the render quality is set to 'Best' in the new Final Cut StudioHD. In an attempt to alias 3D intersections the software sometimes draws lines that should not be shown.
If you are using Final Cut Pro 7 you should make sure your preferences are set to render at normal.

The checkbox for ' Always Use Best Quality when Rendering Movies' should be unchecked.
This would be setting the rendering preferences for all new sequences.
If you want to change the rendering preferences on an existing sequence, make sure your sequence is active then choose 'CMD ZERO', or menu - sequence -settings.
Render Quality in Motion 4
If you open a template in Motion 4 it defaults to rendering at 'normal' both onscreen and when you export, unless you specify otherwise.
Motion 4 gives you an additional option that lets you render at 'best' without the problematic lines.
From the Render menu select Custom.

In the next window make sure High Quality resampling is checked and Antialias 3D intersections is unchecked.

These settings will be honoured by Motion if you export a movie unless you specify otherwise in the Export Options window.
If you are using FCP7 to render this Motion file (or a Template saved from this file) you need to follow the instructions at the top for FCP7.
